An study to produce cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs) from oil palm empty fruit bunch (OPEFB) was presented through hydrothermal proses and sonication pretreatment. The influence of molarity, reaction time acid ratio were studied the yield, crystallinity, chemical structure resulted CNCs. Hydrolysis at temperature 110°C using catalyst hydrochloric 1 M, with hour, 2 hour 3 hour. highest yield up 48,802%, crystallinity until 72.33%, obtained 1M All x-ray diffraction patern shown peak angle 2θ = 22,6° low pattern break 18°, it is indicated that process can help increase Infrared spectroscopy showed a good spectrum wide peaks crystal area wave number 1100 cm-, this shows CNCs have been deletion lignin hemicellulose.
